New Black Belts

On Saturday the 15th May our club welcomed six new junior black belts into the Zen Do Kai family.  Joshua-Thomas Clark, Joseph Caia, Jessica Holden, Abigail Holden and Lilly Holden and Kurt Kerr all overcame nerves to achieve their Shodan Ho rank (probationary 1st degree). An effort was made to create a special atmosphere with Kyoshi Matt Wickham, Shihan Graeme, Renshie Paul Hart and Sempai Indigo Boyd wearing traditional costumes.  Those in attendance witnessed two amazing weaponry demonstrations by Kyoshi Matt demonstrating Iado and  and Sempai Indigo showing us his skill with Sai swords.

As the head instructor for the Mildura club I was very proud of the efforts of all six gradees.  I am certain that Renshie Paul Hart will take very positive messages back to Melbourne.  I must take the opportunity to thank Kyoshi Matt, Renshie Paul and Sempai Indigo for giving up their time to travel to Mildura and make our special day even more memorable.

Colour Belt Grading

On Friday the 14th May over 30 junior, intermediate and senior students attempted gradings for yellow, orange, blue, green and brown belt levels.  It was one of the biggest gradings this club has arranged and everyone who participated can be very proud of their achievements.  I would like to make a special mention of Brayden and Keely who both graded to junior brown belt.  Both boys completed outstanding gradings and performed to a level that impressed our visiting instructors.  Both of them have raised the bar and now have a year to consolidate before attempting their Shodan Ho level.  Good luck boys.
